You can't answer that in general terms. I am still satisfied with the CPU. But if I were to build a new system, I would take a 7th generation AMD CPU, because the socket has changed. With this CPU, you are basically building an old system with socket AM4... But ultimately it also depends on your budget and requirements...

it works though I'm on i9 12900 K and recently got myself the i9 13900 K.
A RTX 4090, Ausus motherboard Z 790, and the box runs like a cat :-)

sounds great! if you can already play everything on very high without any problems, you will certainly have even more room for improvement with the 4070. and if the bottleneck is only around 8 %, the setup fits together really well.

I have been using the Ryzen 7 5800X for over two years and am still very satisfied. For current builds, however, I would recommend a 7th generation CPU, as the AM4 socket is now obsolete. However, if you can find a good deal and use an existing AM4 motherboard, the 5800X is still a solid choice. I've had it for over 2 years and it's top notch. I have the RTX 2070 now but I'm going to get the 4070 because I'll only have 8.6 bottleneck.
