Is it just the glasses without the base station, controller, etc.? Do I have to buy additional base stations, etc.? if so, which ones? the HTC Vive SteamVR Base Station 2.0 for example?

Yes, these are just the glasses. Compatible with Vive base station 1.0 and 2.0 and Vive Controller 1.0 and 2.0.
