No, definitely not. If you have a reasonably potent water cooler, you can easily overclock the TI XC to that of the FTW3 Ultra if necessary. The FTW3 Ultra is particularly suitable for overclocking with the 3-storey coolers. There is always talk of "65C" gaming. The stock coolers here are a little more effective than those of the TI XC. The boost clock difference of 120 mhz is negligible in my opinion.
