Basically, every USB port is "powered", i.e. it provides electricity. Problems arise when a USB hub is operated without an additional power supply. Then the USB cable to the computer must distribute the power supply to all outputs on the hub, which can lead to problems with devices that require more power.
However, if the hub receives power separately via a power supply unit or Powerplay is connected directly via a USB port on the computer, there are no problems.

I mean using the mouse pad, of course.
