I have 2 sets in operation with an Asus X299 XE gaming board and for a while now, the rams have only lit up in the default rainbow colour. Not too long ago I was able to control the individual LEDs with the ASUS Aura software and set the colours. I have already spent several hours in forums and tried everything. Since I always install the latest software and use BIOS rel. I can't say when it happened but I suspect something went down there. With X99 boards you have to activate the writing to the ram bars and with X299 this is active by default. Now I've read that faulty software from GSKILL can make the rams unusable. Mine still work but RGB is unchangeable. Greetings

Sounds like a similar problem that I had. In my case, however, it was only a RAM bar that didn't work properly.
In any case, install the latest bios version and also update the chipset. Then set the DRAM SPD function to enabled.
You can find this option in the bios under the menu item extreme tweaker.
Then completely uninstall the aura software and if you also have the gskill software installed, be sure to uninstall it as well.
Then install only the latest version of aura sync, NOT the gskill software.
Do not install two different softwares to control the RAM. This will not work properly with any mainboard.
If all of this doesn't work, you can try swapping the RAM bars, so that they are read in again during the next boot process and can work again.
I hope one of the two variants helps you :)
