I believe I received a faulty power bank. To confirm: You plug your device you want to charge with the provided cable to the power bank and click once (short click?) the power button on the power bank to turn it on and start charging? I am able to see the battery status light WHEN the power bank is connected to mains power for charging. But once disconnected, the same function does not seem to work. Thanks

Actually, you don't need to press any buttons to turn the power bank one, once you have connected a device to charge. The power bank switches itself on.
