How is it guaranteed here that there is no fire risk? Molex to SATA adapters made of injection-moulded plastic are known to catch fire from time to time (Google image search: "Molex to SATA, lose all your data"). This does not happen with adapters with crimp connections, but unfortunately they do not seem to be available at Digitec.

What exactly do you mean by "crimp connection"? The pins are crimped (also squeezed) together with the cables. The pins are then pushed one-way into the pin sockets and then snap into place. The pins can then only be shot out again by clamping two metal tongues together.

I cannot make any statements about the fire hazard itself. The adapter has been running in my PC for several years without any problems. In order for a fire to occur at all, either quite high voltages/currents would have to run through this adapter, but I don't know of any SATA drives that would do that.

In the event of a short circuit, this would be registered immediately, as either the power supply unit would shut down or the devices connected to the adapter would not work.

In general, when installing or replacing a PC, you should only close it completely when everything is working. This prevents unpleasant surprises.

The answer to your question is: No one can give you a guarantee for things you install and screw up yourself.

Something can always go wrong if you are not careful with the cable connections. However, the power supply has a current fuse which protects against too much power consumption (e.g. short circuit).

How do you guarantee stupidity? SATA connector has max 3x 12V @ 1.5A + 2x 5V @ 1.5A. Each HDD has max. 2A together for 12/5V rail...never more than 15W. That's why ATX PSUs have only 4x SATA per cable. If you use more, don't be surprised ;-)

If an artist uses 10 HDD per cable/rail...his house burns ROFL. What do you want to guarantee?

Molex has max. 9A ATX standard, SATA 1.5A per pin.

Best artists are in crypto...use SATA connector and cry later :-D
