How do the two Hades Canyon NUCs compare to each other, i.e. Intel NUC Hades Canyon VR NUC8i7HVK to the slightly cheaper Intel NUC Hades Canyon NUC8I7HNK2? Apparently the AMD graphics are more performant in VR. But as far as I can see, the pure processor performance hardly differs: both have a base clock of 3.10 GHz and only differ slightly in Turbo Boost: 4.10 GHz to 4.20 GHz. For me, the graphics don't matter at all: it's all about a system that is as powerful as possible (multi-core CPU performance) and as quiet as possible (because it stands directly on the desk). Can anyone assess the difference in this respect? What would be the better system? Thanks!

Hi, I can't make any statements on the exact comparison regarding CPU performance because I only have the NUC8I7HNK2.
I suspect the difference will be within the range of measurement tolerances. I use the part in a lab setup alongside several other NUCs with various virtual Windows and Linux machines. In my opinion, it is well suited for this - with a maximum configuration of 32 GB RAM and 2x2 GB SSD. I run various build and test tools for software testing. It is quiet when idle, but very audible under full load, so I don't want to have it right up against my ears on my desk all the time. I also suspect that the CPU throttles quite quickly due to thermal load when all cores are running under full load.
