The Onkyo receiver r-1045 with DAB cannot be upgraded. The codec can only handle MPEG-1 (128kbps). DAB+ uses the technically more complex codec MPEG-4 (80kbps) with a massively improved compression rate. A conversion from DAB to DAB+ is not possible. Connection of an external device does not make sense.
