Hopefully someone here has a tip for me: I use the controller on the PS5 and connect my headset to the controller via cable. I can't get past the message that the microphone is muted - so it is apparently recognised. I use a Fnatic React headset, the microphone boom can be removed (then the message on the PS5 also appears that no microphone is connected), and there is also a mute switch integrated in the cable.

According to the manufacturer, this should not be a problem at all. You can connect a headset with a microphone channel to the 3.5mm jack connection on the controller. To rule out a defect, I would connect another headset with the same connection to the controller or connect the headset to another controller. Test the audio settings. I have also looked at the headset specifications and it is compatible. Technically, nothing should stand in the way.
