Hi, I ordered this and on my 9th generation iPad the mouse is recognised, if I go up and down with my arm it works, but if I want to go up, down or left right with my finger from the mouse it doesn't work. Can anyone tell me why? Not compatible with ipad 9th gen? Thanks

It worked for me after I had connected the mouse to the device (MacBook) via the charging cable.

The Magic Mouse was also not compatible with my Mac Book Pro from 2017. It was not clear in the product description. It also says that the connection is USB C to lightning, but it was delivered usbc to usbc. I was able to exchange the mouse for a Magic Mouse 3. which works!
