Philips Hue Gradient Ambiance Basis
Hello, I wanted to buy this strip light to install on the back of my desk and stick it along the board. However, I have a question: I have an articulated arm around my desk board (at the back of the desk) to support my PC screen. I was wondering if it would be possible to separate the light strip where my screen support is and continue it after the arm? Thank you in advance for your reply(s).
Technically possible but not foreseen by the manufacturer, not recommended, and out of warranty.
Signify supports 1M extensions via a 4-pin connector (https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/philips-hue-gradient-ambiance-erweiterung-multicoloured-100-cm-led-strips-16467481), or shortening every 25cm, but not reconnection of cut segments.
In fact, the internal manufacture allows it to be shortened every 12.5cm.
The 25cm segments can probably be reconnected by soldering 4 wires or connectors like the original one at the end of the Lightstrip, but this is not an easy operation on a flexible PCB, and the diffuser will probably also be damaged close to the solder in order to reach the circuit. It's trickier than on the Hue Lightstrip Plus/V4.
Basically, we really don't recommend it, and if the screen clamp only covers about ten centimetres, it's easier to simply leave the part of the Lightstrip behind hidden.

I don't understand the question...
