Hello together I would like to connect my Surface Book 2 to an external monitor (HP screen). The external monitor (HP) has an HDMI cable and a power cable. I have another HDMI cable available. If I were to buy a Surface Dock 2, can I connect my monitor to my Surface Book 2? I want to make sure it works before I make a purchase. Thanks for your feedback. Best regards Kevin

Yes, it works with the appropriate USB-C to HDMI cable or adapter.
I ordered the matching cable straight away.

I also use the dock to connect my Surface Book 2 to an external monitor.
It has a USB-C port on my monitor. Connected to the dock with a USB-C cable, the transfer works perfectly.
I don't know if there is a converter that offers HDMI with USB-C.
