Hello, I have two 4TB WD40EFRX-68N32 (ca 2018) installed in a Synology NAS RAID. I guess they run on SMR technology? Do I have to buy a WD Red (SMR) or can I buy a Red plus CMR? Have read that SMR and CMR does not work? Thanks for the inputs

Hello, I am now confused: According to Heise, WD40EFRX CRM disks are those that did NOT have the Plus add-on (https://www.heise.de/news...) -> Today Plus = CMR i.e. today you should go for a Plus version... does anyone know more, did I understand that correctly ?

The plates must already be either CRM or SMR for the best result. Mixing them is not a good idea, so I would go for an SMR again: WD Red (4 TB, 3.5", SMR)
