I wanted to ask if this Blu-Ray player can also connect a hard disk with USB 3.0 via the USB port and play back 4k content. I would be really happy if someone could share their experience with me.

According to the specifications it works. Just check that the format where you have the 4k content is in the list on page 5 of the document below:
