Happy New Year 2021 ! I'm interested in this expansion card and I was wondering if somebody could help confirm if my understanding below is correct? Current Build : -> ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E Gaming motherboard -> 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen - 5900x Ryzen CPU -> RTX 3070 on the first PCIe x16 slot -> 2 x nvme m.2 slots already used with PCI 4.0 SSDs From Asus's website, the expansion slot details are as follows : 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ Processors 2 x PCIe 4.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8) Can I use this card on my second x16 PCIe slot? => My understanding is that that if I install a second PCI 4.0 card, it will run at x8 which is 15.5 GB/s => Does this mean that I can drive, 2 (PCI 4.0) NVME SSDs or 4(PCI 3.0) NVME SSDs? Many thanks in advance and wish you a lovely year ahead !

This card only supports PCIe 3.0 even if the motherboard and CPU both support PCIe 4.0. In the second PCIe slot (x8) you can only use 2 NVMe M.2 SSDs and each SSD will be able to use PCIe 3.0 x4 (assuming the motherboard supports bifurcation but that should be the case). See also https://www.asus.com/support..., although that document doesn't seem to be completely accurate.
