Does this headset have real surround or also virtual Dolby Headphone stuff? Why do I need the Logitech Gaming SW?

Pretty much all gaming headsets (at the moment) have virtual (digital) surround sound. No sound card will help, because devices like this one each have their own little sound card (/chip), here (Logitech Wireless Headsets) it's in the USB stick that comes with it.

The software is not only needed for the surround sound, but so that the headset can produce acceptable sound at all. This may sound strange now, but the sound quality had improved markedly when the software was opened (this is better with the new firmware). Unfortunately, until about half a year ago, when there was a major update, the software always took about 3-10 minutes to start up. Also, I couldn't save any settings (on the G930) because everything only works when this stupid software is open and the settings were simply lost without it. E.g. the buttons, the volume control, microphone settings, etc.

Unfortunately, I had similar experiences with Corsair and Roccat. Since then, no more surround sound, which is barely audible anyway. Sorry for the little rant.
