The additional monitor works best via the USB-C connection - this did not work with the old notebook with USB-A - so there must be a powerful graphics card in the notebook. However, the enclosed USB-C cable must be used, other noname cables did not work for me. This limits the distance from the notebook to the monitor to approx. 60 cm.
