Does the Cloud Key Plus Gen 2 also work in an environment via a 4g router without public ip, such as arlo cameras for example.

The Cloud Key Plus Gen 2 has two functions:

1/ it serves as a management server for all Ubiquiti hardware (e.g. to configure the Security Gateway firewall rules or to create a Wi-Fi guest network) and

(2) it serves as a video server for the Ubiquiti cameras with the Ubiquiti PROTECT application.

To my knowledge it is not possible to store video from Arlo cameras on the Key Gen 2 Cloud (both are proprietary systems, and competitors at that).

The PROTECT video system works well, even in the dark. If something moves in my house I get an alert on my mobile and I see what happened. For example the postman leaving a Digitec delivery in the garage :)

The app shows the movements detected by blue dots on the time axis, and the position in the video stream is controlled live by a simple swipe of the finger. The only downside is that there are sometimes false alerts, e.g. if clouds cause the light to change quickly.

Ubiquiti is constantly improving the product with updates.

These are fairly technical products, so avoid them if you are not computer literate. On the other hand, the level of control offered over your Wi-Fi, firewall, local network etc. is worthy of professional products, at a price well below that of professional equipment. The functionality + quality / price ratio is just incredible.

I recycled my Asus Wi-Fi router (which forced me to accept Spyware activation in exchange for security features, a scandal! ) as a Wi-Fi Bridge to connect an isolated PC, and don't regret the investment made in Ubiquiti hardware.
