The adapter is supplied with 5V power via the USB connection. Either the TV has a USB connection (which also provides a power supply, this is not always the case and should be printed on the socket), or else you have to use a separate power supply unit as is usual with smartphones, etc.. A USB extension cable is also necessary if the 230V socket is far away.
