Do you need the Philips Hue Bridge? Or can you use it without and connect it to the PC?

The Philips Hue lights, with the exception of those with Bluetooth, can only light/off without a bridge (equivalent to a normal light bulb). Dimming, colours, etc. are only possible with a bridge.

The synchronisation mentioned in the article is therefore only possible with a bridge and with the Philips Hue Sync software on the PC or with the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box on the TV (not yet available at Digitec).
