As the name suggests, a Razer mouse with chroma support is required to use the chroma effect. However, the mouse mat can also be used with a normal mouse.

Maybe the customer is not interested in synchronising his mouse with the mouse pad?

Of course it is a "nice-to-have" feature for those who would like to use it and synchronise the chroma effect. Then you just need this mouse, or keyboard, or the 100,000th device that supports the oh-so-fancy RGB beat-death trendsetter moloch effect.
