can you make vocal recordings with it, or are they too "processed" to be used well anymore?

nothing is processed in this sense as long as you do not set an EQ yourself or switch on the clipguard. as far as I know, the clipguard has no effect on the actual sound.

If you don't need any other features, I don't know why you shouldn't use it.
