Can this device also be used as a switch? That is, Ethernet from the router to this device and then Ethernet from the device to clients?

Yes, I used the device briefly as an Ethernet switch and WLAN access point after the router. However, due to the relatively poor (transmission) performance, I then changed to an ASUS RT-AC86, which has a massively better performance.
