Can the Qubino be connected directly to the smart phone or does it need a Z-Wave hub?

As the previous speaker already said: You absolutely need a Z-Wave gateway for this. In my case it is an Aeotec / Aeon Labs USB Z-Wave stick that runs on a Raspi 3 with openHAB.

I have had the Qubino installed in my control box for a while now and use it to monitor the energy from the heat pump and boiler. The smart meter communicates with the hub via the Z-Wave protocol. Since the hub realises the connection with the cloud, it needs it. When choosing a hub, I would first check the Qubino website. The supported hubs are listed there.
