Are these modules compatible with an iMac 5k 2020 or do I have to use the much more expensive modules specially adapted for Macs? Or is this just a nasty marketing ploy to lure a little more money out of the pocket of the unsuspecting Mac owner? https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/crucial-memory-for-mac-2-x-8gb-ddr4-2666-so-dimm-260-pin-ram-12428780

Generally speaking, I would prefer the SO-DIMM memory cards for Macs that are sold specifically for the respective Mac type and year. You can find them on the websites of Corsair, Samsung, Crucial, OWC and the like. Since I used this RAM for a Windows laptop, I can't answer your original question directly. Basically, however, any third-party RAM is a bargain - at least in contrast to what Apple offers.

From what I've seen, these bars should fit and work. If you want to be on the safe side: take these Crucial Memory for Mac (2 x 8GB, DDR4-2666, SO-DIMM 260 pin)
