and how exactly do you load a CD onto the player? I only know the iPod with iTunes and I found that very limited...

You can load the Sandisk Clip Sport like a USB stick via Windows Explorer as long as you have a Windows device and the songs are also stored as files (MP3, MP4, or similar), see the specifications of the device. A purchased music CD can be loaded onto the Sandisk via the Windows Media Center (as a playlist) or rip the CD beforehand.
