According to the manufacturer's website, the LED strip on the upper edge of the box should light up. In my case, it only lights up when I press the buttons. What is the reason that this LED strip does not light up for me?

The LED band that completely surrounds the top edge lights up when the Mi Smart Speaker is listening or responding to a voice command.
