The HRS 8689 succeeds the highly successful HRS 8659. Its advanced and highly integrated chipset architecture offers high reliability, low power consumption, and brilliant picture and sound quality.

The receiver receives unencrypted satellite television in standard and HD resolution. Video signals are output via HDMI (up to a resolution of 1080p) and SCART, allowing the receiver to be connected to almost any television.

Flexible antenna settings allow operation with all common reception systems. Single-cable reception systems are supported according to both the EN50494 standard (SCR, Unicable 1) and the new EN50607 standard (Unicable 2, dCSS, JESS).

Initial setup and operation are very easy. The receiver is currently pre-programmed and user-friendly, and a comprehensive manual is included in the package.

The 2-in-1 remote control features 4 additional buttons that can learn commands from the television's remote control. This allows important TV functions (such as power on/off, volume, source selection) to be controlled directly with the receiver's remote control.
