The range in this test is wide. The Raspi SSD performs well on the Raspi, but there are better alternatives for other applications. Among the 4.0 SSDs, the Seagate SSD and especially the Samsung 990 Evo Plus with its dual interface stand out, the latter mainly due to its comparatively low price...

Bread and butter SSDs use PCIe 4.0 and are fast enough for everyday use, even if they use the rather slow QLC flash. This is particularly noticeable with the WD_Black, which as a gamer SSD no longer even needs a DRAM module. The NV7400 from Biwin is almost as fast, while the three other 4.0 SSDs are more in the entry-level class...

The Western Digital WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB shows excellent performance when tested and impresses with its high speeds in both reading and writing with data rates of over 6 GB per second. It is a strong choice for demanding users looking for a fast and reliable storage solution. With a 5-year warranty, it promises longevity.

The Western Digital WD_Black SN850X is a further development of the SN850 and also benefits from a new SSD controller; the write speed increases to around 6.6 GB/s - just behind the fastest SSDs with a Phison E18 controller. When reading, the SN850X almost utilises the PCIe 4.0 interface with 7.4 GByte/s...
