I used to have an 8TB Lacie, which was firstly completely silent and vibration-free and secondly had an on/off switch. So you could switch it on when you needed it (me for backups). The Seagate thing, on the other hand, is a rumbler. It's actually not that loud, but you can definitely feel the vibration on the table. Since it also doesn't have an on/off switch, when you don't need the disc at the moment, you have to. Disconnect the power supply from the mains or you'll have the rumble all the time. I can live with it now, in 1 year I will need a bigger disc anyway, but it will be a Lacie again, with which I have always done well over the years - completely noiseless, nice to look at and, above all, can be switched off when not in use.

The power plug came with 6 adapter parts. So 5 to throw away.

I bought the Expansion Desktop as an external backup that can be separated from the system to protect myself against encryption Trojans. It is connected to a switched power strip because it lacks an on/off switch (which is why I deducted one star).

Oh dear. Now I know why my Lacie was so expensive.
I bought the Seagate as a backup drive.
It really makes a lot of noise when writing.
Fortunately, it is only written to once and then it ends up in the cupboard.

Small, slim, unobtrusive hard drive with a lot of storage space for a good price and a beautiful design.
From 10TB full storage, it becomes quite slow and also louder.
What bothers me is that the hard drive goes into a kind of standby mode when it's not in use for a while. If I then want to access Windows Explorer without using the hard disk at all, it takes quite a while until the hard disk is ready for use.
So it slows down the workflow and no the whole system, even though I have a pretty good gaming PC.
Too bad!
For those who don't mind, or maybe it's just an isolated case with me, I can highly recommend it.

Good, solid HHD but so loud that it must not be placed on the table or next to it with a felt pad. The noise is extremely annoying and you have to unplug it when working, backups only when you are not at home.
It is quieter and better
