Bose SoundTouch 10
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
In my search for a modern bathroom radio, I found the SoundTouch 10. Perhaps the classic "catch" on the part of Bose for an entry-level multi-room product :)
The deciding factor for the purchase decision was ultimately my trust in Bose and the 6 preset buttons. I still find this one of the best features of the device. These can be assigned to playlists (DLNA streaming), internet radio stations or "external" apps such as Spotify on the app as desired - 6 selection options are wonderfully sufficient for me.
Finally, Spotify is controlled via the Spotify app -> Spotify Connect. I think sooner or later there will only be Spotify Connect on all devices. Spotify doesn't want to have the app "taken away" from it. However, the operation is extremely fast and has no unattractive restrictions. It also makes the Bose app easier to use.
Further to the sound: Bose calls it "top sound" itself - I find the quality good. The SoundTouch can't be held responsible for the rubbish internet radio quality, but what it produces is really very good. You either like the Bose sound or you don't - the most important thing in my opinion is the bass reflex port on the back of the unit. If you put the box too close to the wall (or have to put it too close to the wall), it booms noticeably. However, 20 cm further away from the wall is already enough to remedy this.
Finally, a quick word about the set-up. It is really easy and quick to set up. The app ratings in the Google Play Store are not to be taken too seriously. The app is absolutely stable and easy to use, I don't know which idiot writes these reviews :) You download the app, start up the radio. The app finds the radio itself, you create an account, tell the radio which WLAN to use and what its name should be. That's it... You have to be able to do that today!

Sound more than correct for the format.
Small disappointment that the only way to listen from an iPhone is through bluetooth: No Airplay
Remote control welcome with programmable shortcuts from the application.
The application can sometimes limit what we would like to do with the speaker

Good quality, good sound, app sometimes a bit "bitchy".

I bought the device 3 years ago and am very satisfied. I had a little trouble with the app, but fortunately it's not necessary. Sound smooth, good bass, almost a little too much, which is why the volume is never at maximum. But all in all, very good, good investment.

I bought this unit because it also has control buttons on the unit. On/off, volume up/down and six pre-programmed buttons.
So I don't have to get out my smartphone or tablet every time. There is also a Bose remote control included, which has the same layout with the six buttons. The buttons can then be pre-programmed via the app.
I also like the fact that the power supply is already built in. So you don't have to hide it away. The power cable of the white Bose is also white. The housing is of high quality and also seems to be light-resistant.
The sound is surprisingly good for the small housing and the installation and operation via the Bose app went without a hitch.
If you have a WLAN with a range extender, you have to make sure that the Bose box also connects to the extended WLAN, i.e. that it is on the same WLAN as the smartphone with the Bose app.
By the way, it is elegant that you can also use the volume up/down buttons on the side of the smartphone.
The price is steep, but you forget that because it's fun to use.

The Bose Soundtouch 10 is a cool piece of equipment. For its size, it's amazing what it's capable of. Perfectly adequate for sound reinforcement at home in the living room. Bass should be a bit more, but for a speaker of this size it's more than enough.
The connection to the home network could be a little easier. I was also unable to access my iTunes music library for a long time. After a long search, I found the check mark on ITunes that must be set to have access authorisation.

The device is easy and quick to install, although the sound is not convincing compared to the SoundTouch 20 or 30. On the other hand, it is the perfect size for smaller rooms and has sufficient sound quality. Installation and integration into existing WLAN is very user-friendly.
However, I found it somewhat surprising that this third generation of SoundTouch speakers no longer supports Apple Airplay, which is why music tracks cannot be played directly from the iPhone. However, playing Spotify works perfectly as well as grouping different SoundTouch systems. For me, this is still a successful product.

The sound is very bass-heavy (can be adjusted). The treble is too accentuated. The box can be switched on/off via the app. The input between the sources can also be switched on/off via the app. The box wants to update the first time it is connected to the network. The box is well made. The remote control is functional and even allows thumbs-up and thumbs-down for Spotify. The overall idea may be convincing.
The implementation is terrible. Especially since the thing is far too expensive for what it offers. To configure the box, you need a mobile phone with the corresponding app. That was no problem either. But if you dare to try this concept, then the app verd***** is usable again. It's slow, always a hassle. It hangs itself unnecessarily in the Android OS (I now have 3 volume sliders all the time). Configuring Internet Radio is sometimes simply impossible, scrolling through the list at a snail's pace and sometimes breaking off. Search is rubbish. I had a radio station on a speed dial button, you can't find the station via the search. Reassigning speed-dial buttons is not possible. But the radio itself works in most cases (failure rate maybe 10%).
I registered with Deezer to check the integration. The button assignment works, but in 99% of cases no music is played. It can't be because of Deezer. It works wonderfully via Bluetooth. I don't want to check Spotify.
As I said, everything could be fixed with a software update. Bose will hardly do that. Not worth the money and an expensive clunker to operate via Bluetooth, like a UE Boom.

The boxes make a good impression inital. The quick-select buttons in particular are great.
However, the software behind them is not really mature. Permanent WLAN failures in which the speakers are removed from the network (the SONOS Play:1 was able to maintain the connection in exactly the same place).
The Bose SoundTouch app has a miserable range of functions: for example, it is not possible to search for an artist or album on a Synology NAS (this bug has been around for about 4 years). Furthermore, the app does not have a play queue. This means that only individual songs can be played.

Already have three units, which probably says it all....
New app could be user-friendly.
This speaker is in constant use in our home, whether for radio or via Bluetooth. Fulfils all needs in the household, whether background music, a small party or listening to a story.

The sound is BOSE like great for such a small device. I use it in the kitchen and it is perfectly adequate.
Unfortunately, the wifi has to be reinstalled after every update, which is a bit annoying.
All in all, a cool device that I would buy again.

If you want good sound and want to spend more money, this is a great buy.
Top product that is worth every franc. I have 2 of them at home and can use them in two rooms without any problems. The function buttons are very practical. It is easy to play the desired music without an app. The only small disadvantage is the delay when the line-in signal has to be transmitted to a second device, perhaps an update will rectify this.

Sometimes the speakers suddenly go silent, then you have to switch them off and on again. The same thing happens to a friend of mine from time to time, so it seems to be a fundamental problem.
In a direct comparison with Sonos Play:1, the sound of the Bose SoundTouch 10 is worse: It is less rich, the spectrum is narrower, both in the treble and in the bass. I didn't expect that from Bose!
During the initial installation, you first have to dial into the speakers' WLAN with your mobile phone instead of your own, so that you can configure them with the app. It would be nice if this was described in the short manual that comes with the speakers, that would save a lot of time.

We are very happy with the Bose SoundTouch system. We have five SoundTouch 10s, one SoundTouch 20, one SoundBar 300, one AcousticMass 300 and two virtually invisible 300 surround speakers. Everything can be easily connected via app and we can completely sound our maisonnette flat over two floors. Thanks to the 6 programmable buttons on the speakers, we can also listen to the radio quickly and easily without an app. We particularly appreciate the Bluetooth interface. The sound bar with subwoofer and surround speakers can not only be used for TV, but can also be paired with the other speakers for music. Bombastic!
However, we would like to mention three points of criticism:
1. radio broadcasts cannot be interrupted by pressing the pause button.
2. only the SoundTouch 10 can be connected as stereo speakers. This is not possible for SoundTouch 20 and 30, why is that?
Apple Music is not (yet) supported on the app via WIFI. But that's not a problem because you can still use it thanks to Bluetooth.

I've been using 4 of them for a year and I'm very satisfied. The app works great, I can really connect all sources freely via Bluetooth and then distribute them to all the other boxes. The remote control and the prefix buttons are also great. Within 1 second, my favourite station is playing in the bathroom in the morning. In my opinion, the sound is 5 times better than the smallest Sonos and the costs are 20% lower, but that's a matter of taste. In any case, 100% recommendation to buy.
If you like the typical Bose bass-heavy sound...

I have paired 2 Soundtouch 10 as stereo speakers. I preferred Bose to the Sonos system because guests can also stream via Bluetooth without any problems. With Sonos, only via the app! I also find the sound better than the Sonos Play 1. The set-up is very easy! I will buy more devices of this multiroom system. By the way, I recommend installing the MiST Controller app for CHF 5. This gives you a timer and alarm clock function! It also works when the app is inactive and the iPhone is in sleep mode!
By the way: It's better to have two Soundtouch 10s than one 20 or 30 (they can only be operated individually).
