The NC (noise cancelling) is very cool here. The environment is picked up by a microphone and then you can concentrate on the music.
The sound is really top. Super balanced if you want to listen to classical or bass music.
It is charged via a special cable. This would be difficult to replace. Thin headphone plug at one end, USB at the other.
The workmanship is top! However, the headphones do not hold well on my head. It slips quickly when I lean forward, for example.
One disadvantage for me is the cable. On the headphone side, it's not a 3.5 mm jack like everywhere else, but smaller. I.e. I would have to look for a replacement cable.
So apart from the cables (which you shouldn't lose), and somewhat less good holding comfort, it is well recommended.

Does what it should. Even on the plane, the annoying noise disappears.
The complete range of sounds is not filtered. Less so in the high-frequency range, but the engines of an aeroplane are perfect. Thus tiptop travel headphones.
Headphone cables can get lost. So it is nice to have a replacement. 2.5mm 3-pin to 3.5mm 4-pin, incl. mic & remote control.
AKG HQ referred me to a Swiss repairer who doesn't have them. So; there is no such thing. Far East had a cheap one, i.e. mic not usable, presumption for interlocutor.
Once defective, I will opt for a device with commercially available connectors or at least available spare parts.

ear pads already defective, noise cancelling switch rattles when jogging. workmanship is definitely lousy. otherwise the headphones do what they are supposed to.

Sounds great and wears very well. Unfortunately, the volume cannot be adjusted with the remote control.
BUT
Although I only need the headphones for holidays, the ear pad broke after 1 1/2 years.
I took them in for repair and after a few weeks I actually received a brand new pair of headphones (shrink-wrapped in the original packaging).
There are still ear pads for my 38-year-old Beyerdynamic!!!

Overall pleasant to wear in a long flight, but after 4hs my ears hurt a bit so I took a break and wore them again, specially because after wearing them you'll find the sound of an aircraft really disturbing . Overperforming battery.
Overall I'm very happy with the headphones. With the noise cancelling I can easily listen to music on public transport without having to turn it up to unreasonable volumes.
My gripes with it are only minor ones. My ears only really start hurting after using them for hours at a time. The charging cable works fine so far, but if it ever gets lost or breaks I foresee myself having some trouble replacing it.

This is finally the recipe for a more pleasant journey on public transport.
Once the headphones are on, you are in a bubble, which is really surprising.
A very slight murmur can be heard with the noise reduction active and without music, and the surrounding noises are either erased or "transported" 50 metres away.
Once music is played, the hiss disappears, the sound is very pleasant, with a nice dynamic and a good balance. With a podcast it's the same, the voices are clear and very pleasant.
It is really a good product.
It is necessary on the other hand, to take care well to choose its source, because one will hear it immediately.
With a Lumia 735, there is no problem, with an Xperia Arc S, the audio output is not good, and the headset is not forgiving, the sound is not good and with a Nokia Xpressmusic 5800, it does not work at all, the headset is simply not recognized, probably related to the fact that the jack is also used to recharge the headset.

Bought these for frequent airline travel and they are excellent for this purpose. There are better options (e.g. V-Moda) if airplane drone is not an issue.
