As long as the cooler complies with the CPU's tdp. Why not? That is 170W. But as soon as you activate pbo, the CPU draws around 250 watts at full load

I'm hesitating between this one and the 9800x3d, but having a 5900x, I'm used to having 12 cores, so it's hard to go back to 8. What's more, I do more production than gaming, so the 9950x3d is probably better suited to my needs. On the other hand, even top-of-the-range MBs can't handle 2 m2 gen 5, the asus rog 870e, one of the best, does have 3 m2 gen 5 slots but only socket 1 has its own dedicated line with the cpu, so if socket 2 and 3, the gpu switches to 8x, which is really rubbish, so you have to switch to gen 4 for a second m2 that goes through the chipset. So to sum up > 1 gen 5 on socket 1 and a gen 4 on socket 4 so that the m2 + the gpu work at maximum.

Hello, take the 9950X3D, you'll have more peace of mind in the long term. It's a racing beast! As far as M2s are concerned, yes that's right, so you need to opt for a high-capacity M2 in 5.0, like 4TB at least, to be on the safe side...

As far as ram is concerned, I'm opting for the corsair dominator titanium 6000 with 4 x 32 gb in case 30. Why corsair and not g skil? because I don't want to mix several RGB management apps, even if signalRGB can take care of it. For the m2 gen 5, a corsair mp700 2 tb and for gen 4 a 990 pro 1 tb (dedicated to installing games).

Hello there, I am about to order a Ryzen 9 7950X3D but I cannot decide on a motherboard. It would be the first time I've come back to AMD since the Athlon came out. I am not very familiar with the different chipsets. I'm looking for something in the 200-350 CHF range. Does anybody have some suggestions? I usually prefer Asus, and I like MSI, but I'm looking for the best price/performance ratio.

The newest generation is the 9950X3D, with some advantages over the 7950X3D. I would not consider the 7950, unless you find it at a much lower price. Concerning the motherboard, those based on the B850 are a very reasonable compromise. The ASUS ROG STRIX B850-F GAMING WIFI (~290) would do well for almost anyone. If you want a high end motherboard with many more M2 slots and all bells and whistles, consider the ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI (~450). Both support either the 7950X3D or the 9950X3D (may need BIOS upgrade).
