RAM technology per CPU:

• RAM per CPU (12 memory slots, 3 slots per 4 memory channels)
• UDIMM ECC 64GB RAM (8 x 8GB ECC UDIMM)
• RDIMM 2Rank 192GB RAM (12 x 16GB RDIMM)
• RDIMM 4Rank 256GB RAM (8 x 32GB RDIMM)
• LRDIMM 768GB RAM (12 x 64GB LRDIMM)

ECC DIMM, Registered DIMM, and Load Reduced LRDIMM memory modules must not be mixed. Therefore, when upgrading, you should know which memory is already installed or upgrade completely to RDIMM memory.

Principles of memory configuration:

• There are 4 memory channels per CPU, each with 3 memory slots.
• ECC DIMM, Registered DIMM, and Load Reduced LRDIMM memory modules must not be mixed.
• When using ECC UDIMM or 4Rank (4Rx..) RDIMM memory, only 2 out of 3 memory slots per memory channel can be filled.
• Memory slots without a processor present must not be populated.

Memory configuration for good system performance:

• Distribute the memory evenly across the memory slots and evenly across the CPUs.
• If more than one CPU is present, the memory per CPU should be identical (mirrored to the other CPU).
