These are among the first Pokémon players receive in the game. In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, players can choose from the newly discovered Pokémon Rowlet, which is a Grass and Flying type, Litten, which is a Fire type, and Popplio, which is a Water type.

For a Pokémon Trainer, it is important to know the Pokémon types and understand how they match up against each other in battle. Grass-type Pokémon are strong against Water types but weak against Fire types. Fire-type Pokémon are strong against Grass types and weak against Water types. Water-type Pokémon are strong against Fire types but weak against Grass types.
