Product details
No more searching for another crystal, thanks to Adafruit's Si5351A Clock Generator Breakout! This chip features a precise 25 MHz crystal oscillator and internal PLLs and dividers to generate nearly any frequency from under 8 kHz to over 150 MHz.
The Si5351A Clock Generator is an I2C-controlled clock generator. It uses the internal precise clock to drive multiple PLLs and clock dividers via I2C commands. By configuring the PLLs and dividers, you can produce accurate and arbitrary frequencies. There are three independent outputs available, and each can have a different frequency. The outputs have an amplitude of 3 Vpp and can be output either through a removable header for breadboards or, for RF applications, through an optional SMA connector.
We have soldered this handy little chip onto its own breakout board, equipped with a 3.3V LDO regulator, allowing it to be powered with 3-5V DC. Additionally, we have added level shifting circuits on the I2C lines so you can safely use this chip with 3V or 5V logic.
The best part is that we even have a great tutorial and library to help you get started! Our code is designed for use with the Arduino microcontroller and IDE but can easily be ported to your preferred I2C-supported platform.
