Looks nice, got a defective unit that whistled loudly, great support if you have issues!

EDIT: i-tec support contacted me directly about my issues with the electronic noise. I have to say that was some of the best support I've received in a long time, very friendly, professional and helpful... 5*'s for them!

I returned the device for a full refund and bought this https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/i-tec-dual-dp-usb-c-power-delivery-4k-dock-displayport-100w-usb-type-c-usb-type-a-docking-stations-13407079 model instead. HDMI vs DP was not going to be an issue for me, the laptop I am using this with doesn't support display out over USB-C anyway. This one is absolutely silent in comparison and leads me to believe it was just a defective unit I got the first time. Therefore increasing my score and updating this review to reflect the service + quality of the replacement.

A really quite nice device, ports and functionality wise.

The major downside is the extremely loud coil whine / whistle / EM noise. I'm not extra overly sensitive to it normally and have plenty of fans and other whitenoise generating equipment around, but this unit is particularly loud and piercing.

Aside from that, PD only appears to work when the charger is plugged to the dock and then inserted to the device. Plugging the charger into the dock when already hooked up does nothing... EXCEPT... it fixes the coil whine issue, so despite needing to plug around a bit to remove the noise and charge (or not, if not wanted), there's at least a way to stay sane.

  • PD seems to meet spec as long as plugged in order

  • Samsung DEX functions great

Contra

  • Coil whine - probably just a defective unit, replaced with another i-tec product that is silent
  • PD power plugging order is a bit tedious to work around

    Regarding your issue, I recommend opening a support case so we can have a proper ticket and help you resolve it. You can do this     by emailing us a description of your problem. Just copy what you already wrote in your review and send it to:

    support @ itecproduct. com
    (with no spaces in between, we need to use this workaround to leave our email address.)

    Also please state what brand and model of laptop you use, which power adapter do you hook up to our docking station. We need to know is it our power adapter sold separately that you've bought and connected or it is a power adapter from another party. Power delivery with this docking station is up to 100 W.
