Blazing beauty tips: mixing your dream lip gloss is just that easy

There are some shades we like so much that we’d love to wear them all over our face. Here’s how to turn your favourite blush or eyeshadow into a matching lip gloss in no time.

Now, you could, of course, grab your binoculars and a rucksack stuffed with provisions, head out into the world and find that perfect lip gloss. Good luck with that! Or you could take a chance on an ultra-simple craft project, and simply mix yourself the perfect shade.

Here’s how it works

Step 1: Grab an eyeshadow, highlighter or blush you’d like a lip colour to match and a clear lip gloss with a long-handled applicator.

Step 2: Using a knife, scrape off some of the powder into a dish. The more powder, the more vivid the colour. You can, of course, also mix different shades or shimmers together to create a new colour altogether.

Step 3: Unscrew the lid on your gloss, take out the applicator and press the tip into the powder you’ve scraped into the dish. Make sure it’s coated with powder on all sides. When you’re done, pop the applicator back into the tube.

Step 4: Twist and shake the bottle to stir the powder into the gloss until the colour looks even. And there you have it!

Watch out, you might get addicted to the fun of experimenting. I immediately whipped up two more lip glosses to match my two favourite blushers.

One goes with my sparkly peach-pink Nars Free Soul.

The other goes with my 20 Sorbet Pop Clinique cheek pop. Later, I added a white, shimmery eyeshadow to this milky, pastel-peach shade for more dimension.

Have fun creating your own!

Sometimes it’s the details that make or break a hairstyle or make-up look. In my Blazing Beauty Tips series, I share useful techniques with you that I’ve either learned through my own experience or copied from the pros.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
