I get it, individual tastes are as diverse as the 8 billion people living on this planet. Do we REALLY NEED hundreds or even thousands of items in EVERY single category of goods – all in the name of freedom of choice? Or would less be more, like outlined in Barry Schwartz's famous bestseller 'The Paradox of Choice – Why More Is Less'? Galaxus could probably even increase its profits if it radically changed strategy. Remember those days, not too long ago, when hordes of people would camp an entire night in front of Apple Stores – just to be the first ones to get the newest iPhone? Back then, there only was ONE new iPhone model. Nowadays that excitement and all the groupies have given way to a confusing list of models and configurations like most other brands. I'm not even 40, yet I'll use my best friend's girlfriend's old iPhone SE until it's as dead as the nearly 400,000 Covid-19 victims. Likewise, my father has been wanting to replace his 30 year-old Weber charcoal grill for many years now, yet he simply DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO BUY and has been put off by the pandemic of severe choice overload. In the meantime, while we continue reeling from this pandemic and already start preparing for the next one, stores like Galaxus are complicit in this crisis...
