The TL-FC311B-2 is a Gigabit media converter with a Gigabit RJ-45 port and a Gigabit SC fiber optic port that can convert between electrical and optical signals. How this product works
The TL-FC311B-2 uses WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology, allowing data to be sent and received over a distance of up to 2 km using just a single-mode fiber optic cable. This saves customers half the cost of cable deployment. The TL-FC311B-2 transmits data at a wavelength of 1310 nm and receives data at a wavelength of 1550 nm on an optical fiber. Therefore, the device used in conjunction with the TL-FC311B-2 should send data at a wavelength of 1550 nm and receive data at a wavelength of 1310 nm. Another media converter, the TL-FC311A-2, is one of the products that can work with the TL-FC311B-2.

Additionally, this media converter can be used as a standalone device (no rack required) or with the TP-Link TL-FC1420 rack for auto-MDI/MDI-X on the TX port, where the duplex mode is automatically negotiated.
