Product details

Martin Heidegger's "Wood Paths" was published in 1950 and presented his reflections on the origin of the artwork, the era of the worldview, Hegel's concept of experience, Nietzsche's phrase "God is dead," the question of the purpose of poets, and the saying of Anaximander. This volume contains some of the most important contributions from Heidegger's later work, in which he critically engages with the history of metaphysics and seeks new ways of thinking through encounters with art, poetry, and pre-Socratic philosophy. Since its publication, this volume, which is available in numerous translations, has significantly influenced the reception of Heidegger's thought. Meanwhile, many other texts by Heidegger from the 1930s and 1940s have emerged. These allow for a better contextualization of the texts published in "Wood Paths" and thus a deeper interpretation of Heidegger's later work. This is precisely what the present volume aims to achieve, discussing the essays from "Wood Paths" both in the context of Heidegger's own intellectual journey and within the broader framework of the history of philosophy. This volume is suitable for both a general introduction to Heidegger's later work and a more in-depth engagement with specific questions regarding his thought.
